About this design
The snail’s shell is a spiral of Pastel Lavender with a Black line that coils from the centre outward, which is the most satisfying part of the design to place. The body is a long strip of Pastel Yellow underneath, rising at the right into a head with two eye stalks topped with Black beads. The spiral is not symmetrical, so follow the chart carefully round each turn.
You will need roughly 89 Black, 55 Pastel Lavender and 22 Pastel Yellow beads. Buy a few spares of each, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 22 × 12 beads the design fits easily on one large square pegboard. Lay the black spiral line first, from the outside in, then fill the lavender between the coils.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge, then let it cool, turn it over and press the back. Cool it flat under a heavy book so it stays straight. At about 11 × 6 cm in midi beads it makes a garden-themed magnet or a bookmark charm.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 54% of the 166 beads, followed by Perler 80-19054 Pastel Lavender at 33%. Every colour is used at least 22 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 37% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
